Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) – Paraguai

Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP)
Paraguay

Since January 2019, Concremat is responsible for the  supervision services of the Bella Vista Wastewater Treatment Plant (PTAR), located in Asunción, capital of Paraguay. Concremat’s duties also include the analysis and validation of the projects and commissioning. The project is expected to be completed by October 2022.

Occupying an area of 23 hectares and composed of pumping infrastructure, network system, grease removal and desanding, loading chamber and sub-fluvial outfall, the station will have a treatment capacity of 4.4m³/s, which represents 54% of the water discharged into the Paraguay River. PTAR will also have a laboratory to monitor the water arriving at and leaving the plant, and the quality of the river water.

The construction of the treatment plant is part of the Integrated Sanitation Program for the Bay of Asunción and the Metropolitan Area. Financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), its objective is to contribute to the decontamination of the Bay of Asunción and the San Lorenzo stream, improving the sanitary and environmental conditions of the population living in the basins of the urban streams located in the Metropolitan Area of Asunción (AMA). Its implementation will allow, for the first time, the purification of the capital’s sewage effluents before they are discharged into the Paraguay River. This will directly benefit about 1,200,000 people.
